Recent Accomplishments

  • September 2013, Matthew Green joined the SSS, Buy Local Program as Manager.
  • February 2013, Michelle Morris joined SSS as the Executive Director of the organization.
  • August 2013, hosted the 2nd Annual Table for Olympia event where friends and neighbors shared garden bounty at what is probably South Sound’s largest pot luck.
  • November 2012, produced our 5th version of “Our Money Matters” a South Sound, Local Coupon Book & Directory
  • February 2013, main sponsor of Love Our Local Fest and Auction.
  • 2012, designed and printed “Jane and her local Dollar” poster, outlining a visual representation of the Economic Multiplier.
  • 2011, co-coordinated and held 4 successful Olympia based Cash Mobs
  • 2009, established the Wendell Berry Community Garden a project of our Local Food Systems program.
  • 2009, started the Urban Agriculture Program – currently known as the Local Food Systems program.
  • 2008, founded the Buy Local Program based on the success of Sustainable Connections in Bellingham
  • 2007, hosted 4 forums identifying how to advance sustainability in our community.  The community identified four major areas of common interest:   a.) A Buy Local Marketing Strategy   b.) Support Local Farmers   c.) A Web site Clearinghouse for Sustainability Events   d.) An Institute for Sustainability in Olympia.
  • 2007, joined the non-profit organization Sustainable Communities All Over Puget Sound, also known as SCALLOPS
