Invest Locally!
In recent months the localization movement has seen some huge victories.
More people than ever are shopping locally and eating local foods and this is having a huge effect on the regional economy and the environment. Now another aspect of the movement is about to take these efforts to whole new dimension. Local investment isn’t new in fact it’s pretty old and local banks and credit unions have been in the business of helping main street for a long time (another great reason to switch to banking local). But, what is new is that there is now more enthusiasm and more opportunities to invest locally than ever before.
Two great examples are the Slow Money movement (which evolved from the Slow Food movement) and the success of various crowdfunding platforms and related legislation such as the recent JOBS Act. In support of these efforts Sustainable South Sound is happy to announce:
Invest Local!
L.I.O.N is coming to Olympia!
Olympia Ballroom (above the Urban Onion) 116 Legion Way
Come gather with local business owner, investors, and concerned citizens to begin the creation of a Local Investment Network in the Olympia area.
L.I.O.N stands for Local Investment Opportunities Network. It is an organization from Port Townsend WA which has demonstrated a successful model of matching local investors with local investments. They have helped many new small businesses to start up and existing local businesses to expand.
Investing local helps our money stay closer to home where it can stimulate our local economy and it helps us to form and nurture lasting relationships which allow our communities to thrive. We look forward to you joining us!
